This Site Works Best when Used Together with Your Own Current Eureka Daylily or Hosta/Iris Guide.

1. On this Site, you view the plants as a group under each nursery's name (like a traditional nursery catalog) so that you can view all of the plants that a given nursery has for sale.

2. In the Eureka Reference Guides, you view the plants grouped alphabetically by their registered name from different nursersies with all the nurseries carrying that plant so that you can compare who has the plant and at the different costs.

Using the Eureka Internet Guide to Nurseries along with your Eureka Reference Guides

There is a wealth of information linked to the nurseries in the Guides and illustrated below.

For the current Eureka Daylily Reference Guide, each daylily nursery lists their flowers for sale with the following possible fields of data:
Daylily Cultivar Name - Hybridizer - Year of Registration - "A" for AHS Award Winner - Height - Season of Bloom - Bloom Diameter - Bloom Colors - Bloom Patterns - Foliage - Ploidy - Bloom Form - Fragrance - Nocturnal - Extended Bloom - Nursery Codes - Sales Codes when available ("D" for double fan, "L" for limited stock, "F" for Fall delivery, "S" for single fan, "M" for multiple fans, "X" for display only, and "a" - "c" for special grower sales codes explained in the ordering information.), and Price for each flower.

For example, most daylily collectors look up a daylily in the current Eureka Daylily Reference Guide and decide which of the growers selling that cultivar they would like to consider ordering it from. Once they decide from which of these daylily nurseries they want to order from, they could then lay down their Reference Guide, get onine here at the Eureka Internet Guide to Nurseries and go to that nursery's Site and see ALL the plants that grower is listing.

Now you can also open the two-disc Daylily CD Supplement and use the new and expanded Awards Guide, the Daylily Dictionary containing all of the approx. 60,000 registered daylilies or view any of the photos from the Guide in digital form on the CDs to help make your decisions.

For the current Eureka Hosta/Iris Reference Guide, it works much the same way.

You would make your comparisons on the CDs for the different cultivars for sale by the different nurseries and then you would use this Site online to see what other hostas or irises the nurseries have for sale to complete your order.

1. The 2006 Hosta/Iris Guide is shipped as a two-disc CD set. This is not a supplement to the Guide. This is the Guide in .PDF format that you will open with a free PDF Reader program. Once you have opened the file on your computer, it looks just like the book you're used to. Instead of the Guide being spiral bound, it's now a book on your computer screen and you can jump from page to page directly on the CD.

2. You'll enjoy the features that you've come to expect from Eureka now on these two CDs such as the Nursery Ordering Information Guide, the Annual Hosta and Iris Market Guides plus the beautiful Eureka color cultivar photography. Plus, these CDs have the Eureka Hosta and Iris Dictionaries with all of the cultivars ever registered including the official spelling of their registered names, hybridizers, years of registrations.

3. You will now view the entire Hosta/Iris Guide on your computer or you can print your own copy of the entire Guide or just the pages that you want to take with you into the garden. This flexibility makes the Guide much friendlier for everyone's use.

4. This two-disc set costs less than the printed Guide previously advertised. Your must confirm your pre-publication order and tell me if you want to still get the 2006 Eureka Hosta/Iris Guide (now on these two CDs) and receive a refund for your savings. Or, tell us to cancel your order and refund your entire payment. The new price for the two-disc CD set is $17.95 plus $2.25 S/H. (Domestic US S/H)

5. The 2006 Eureka Hosta/Iris Reference Guide double CD set is available for shipment NOW.

Why? You may ask why.
Some people have asked, “Why are you not printing the Hosta/Iris Guide anymore?

1. We are all increasingly moving to online and computer resources for our information. These CDs will merge well with this trend in computer usage among gardeners. The flexibility of the CDs means that Eureka readers can make more choices for themselves and view the Guide on their monitors or print their own copies. Plus, the CDs work well with the Eureka Website making it easier for cultivar collectors to order.

2. Printed color Guides are very expensive to print and require a large volume of buyers to distribute the production costs. The hosta and iris world of collectors and hybridizers combined is much smaller than that of the daylily world. The Daylily Guide has grown annually for 16 years and seems to have a bright future as a printed Guide because of the large numbers. We have subsidized the Hosta and Iris Guides for four years producing them like we have done the Daylily Guide. However, the volume sales have not been growing enough to pay for the printed Hosta/Iris Guide. It is easy to understand when you compare the size of the three plant societies. It's simple marketing math. We believe that the Eureka Hosta/Iris Reference Guide will grow along with the Hosta and Iris Societies over the next few years and we may once again produce a printed Guide for these markets. But we had a critical decision to make since our expenses have been so high.

3. When we talked with Eureka hosta and iris readers and nurseries, we explained that we might have to discontinue the Hosta/Iris Guide. They asked us to figure out a way to continue. The CDs do that.

Order your 2006 Eureka Hosta/Iris two-disc CD set for $17.95 plus S/H by email (bloom@GardenEureka.com), phone (828-236-2222) or fax (828-236-2226) using your Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
