While the printed Guide gives you almost 400 pages of color and daylily information, the CDs add almost 1,500 more pages to your 2008 Eureka Daylily.
Requested for many years, the two-disc CD Supplement will bring to your computer four features that you will love. The Digital Graphics folder has all the beautiful Eureka photography from this Guide in both low- and high-resolution digital formats. Bloom Form (Spiders, Doubles, Polys, Unusual Forms) on all the daylilies ever registered plus species and pre-registered plants. With the Photo Index, you will be able to look up a daylily name and then locate the page in your 2007 Eureka on which the photo is located. And with the Daylily Awards Guide on the disks, you can quickly look up a cultivar name and see what AHS award(s) it has won. Here are ALL of the AHS awards ever made, from garden judges recognition to AHS Convention votes on outstanding plants observed in the tour gardens. 1. The 2006 Hosta/Iris Guide is a two-disc CD set. This is not a supplement to the Guide. This is the Guide in .PDF format that you will open with a free PDF Reader program. Once you have opened the file on your computer, it looks just like the book you're used to. Instead of the Guide being spiral bound, it's now a book on your computer screen and you can jump from page to page directly on the CD.
2. You'll enjoy the features that you've come to expect from Eureka now on these two CDs such as the Nursery Ordering Information Guide, the Annual Hosta and Iris Market Guides plus the beautiful Eureka color cultivar photography. Plus, these CDs have the Eureka Hosta and Iris Dictionaries with all of the cultivars ever registered including the official spelling of their registered names, hybridizers, years of registrations.
3. You will now view the entire Hosta/Iris Guide on your computer or you can print your own copy of the entire Guide or just the pages that you want to take with you into the garden. This flexibility makes the Guide much friendlier for everyone's use.
4. This two-disc set costs less than the printed Guide previously advertised. Your must confirm your pre-publication order and tell me if you want to still get the 2006 Eureka Hosta/Iris Guide (now on these two CDs) and receive a refund for your savings. Or, tell us to cancel your order and refund your entire payment. The new price for the two-disc CD set is $17.95 plus $2.25 S/H. (Domestic US S/H)
5. The 2006 Eureka Hosta/Iris Reference Guide double CD set is available for shipment NOW.
Why? You may ask why. Some people have asked, ÒWhy are you not printing the Hosta/Iris Guide anymore?Ó
1. We are all increasingly moving to online and computer resources for our information. These CDs will merge well with this trend in computer usage among gardeners. The flexibility of the CDs means that Eureka readers can make more choices for themselves and view the Guide on their monitors or print their own copies. Plus, the CDs work well with the Eureka Website making it easier for cultivar collectors to order.
2. Printed color Guides are very expensive to print and require a large volume of buyers to distribute the production costs. The hosta and iris world of collectors and hybridizers combined is much smaller than that of the daylily world. The Daylily Guide has grown annually for 16 years and seems to have a bright future as a printed Guide because of the large numbers. We have subsidized the Hosta and Iris Guides for four years producing them like we have done the Daylily Guide. However, the volume sales have not been growing enough to pay for the printed Hosta/Iris Guide. It is easy to understand when you compare the size of the three plant societies. It's simple marketing math. We believe that the Eureka Hosta/Iris Reference Guide will grow along with the Hosta and Iris Societies over the next few years and we may once again produce a printed Guide for these markets. But we had a critical decision to make since our expenses have been so high.
3. When we talked with Eureka hosta and iris readers and nurseries, we explained that we might have to discontinue the Hosta/Iris Guide. They asked us to figure out a way to continue. The CDs do that.

Take advantage of our Eureka Back-issue Sale
Mix and match from all of our available back issues: Eureka DAYLILY Reference Guides -- 1993 through 1998, 2001; 2003 through 2006; Eureka IRIS Reference Guide -- 2002; and Eureka HOSTA/IRIS Reference Guides 2003 through 2005. That's three back issues for the price of one current issue.
Why do perennial collectors want all of the Eureka back issues that they can get?
The basic reason that gardeners want back Volumes of Eureka is that the information and photography are all new EACH year. The Guides are meant to be a "survey" or a "snapshot" of the daylily, hosta and iris markets for a given year. The cultivars listed change yearly as the nurseries respond to stock sales and increase as well as the changing tastes of the collecting public. Sometimes, people have found a plant they wanted for their collection to be no longer available and they only located it from a back issue of Eureka. Many collectors like to see trends in the cultivars they are tracking as investments and back issues of Eureka do that very well. Collectors are often inspired to add a plant to their collections because they first saw a photograph of it in Eureka. Order by email (bloom@GardenEureka.com), phone (828-236-2222) or fax (828-236-2226).
