Why do perennial collectors who use Eureka also collect back issues of Eureka Reference Guides?

The basic reason that gardeners want back Volumes of Eureka is that the information and photography is new EACH year. The Guides are meant to be a "survey" or a "snapshot" of the daylily, hosta and iris markets for a given year. The cultivars listed change yearly as the listing nurseries respond to stock sales and increases as well as the changing tastes of the collecting public. Often, people have found a plant they want for their collection to be no longer available and they locate it from a back issue of Eureka.

New Information. Each year we delete all the previous-year plant listings and nurseries from the database and reload entirely new plants for sale from the listing nurseries. The shifting of the cultivar collectors' market amazes all of us as we see plants from one year disappear from nursery listings at the same time as other cultivars (both older and newer registrations) appear for the first time as they become commercially available.

Remember, in order to see all the feature photographers' outstanding color photos throughout the years and in order to see how your cultivar collection is growing in value over the years, you can now get all the available Eureka back issues for a great savings.

Throughout each year, between publications, we are constantly adding to and modifying our Eureka Database with new registrations and corrections to the thousands of registered cultivars we now have on record. Each new volume incorporates these improvements for the Annual Market Guide's plant descriptions.

Like many collectors, you will want to see trends in the cultivars you are tracking as investments. The best way to see which plants will add long-term value to your collection is to see how those cultivars have been valued over several seasons. A comparison of back issues does that very well.

New Photography. Over the past 15 years, we have evolved Eureka Reference Guides from simple black-and-white booklets to the Guides of today with 50% color photography and 50% market and registration data.

The only way to see a Eureka color cultivar photograph from one of our featured photographers is to have the Guide in hand. We are all often inspired to add a plant to our collections because we first saw a photograph of it. These incredible photos are new each year.
