What do you get when you place your garden in Eureka?

1. First of all, this advertising package places your selected 500 listings of daylilies for sale in the Annual Market Guide. Serious perennial collectors look here first each year. Rather than listing every daylily cultivar you own, place 500 of your most marketable and most abundant daylilies in Eureka.
2. Next, the Eureka reader will find your complete mail-ordering instructions is included in the Nursery Ordering Information Guide. Your new customers will see how to order directly from you including shipping and handling costs, minimum-order requirements, your bonus plant policy, guarantees and much more This information is also on your Eureka Webpage as part of the 2012 Eureka Online Supplement.
3. Your "500 Daylilies" Advertising Package includes a complimentary copy of the new Eureka Daylily Reference Guide. We will mail this to you as soon as we mail out all of our pre-publication orders.
4. Plus, the "500 Daylilies" ad package price includes your garden Webpage as part of the award-winning Eureka Website's 2012 Online Daylily Supplement. You will reach a larger global market of perennial buyers on the popular Eureka Website. Your Eureka Webpage features your listings in one convenient, consolidated list of your plants. They will enjoy all the color photographs you used in your ad. The collectors will reach you by whatever means you have indicated on your Nursery Ordering Information Form, postal mail, email, voice mail or FAX.
5. You will get a chance to proof your entire advertising package. You probably don't know of another gardening publication that gives you this feature.
Just before press time, we'll send you a proof package by email including your listings as they are to appear, your optional color display ad if you added one and your Nursery Ordering Information. You will then proof the ad to make sure that we have everything correct and then QUICKLY contact us.

How can you improve your nursery ad?

1. Add an optional Color Display Ad
You may increase your nursery's Eureka marketing effectiveness by purchasing an optional, color display ad featuring color photo(s) of your well-stocked plants (See Item #3 below on the Daylily Nursery Advertising Contract). Show Eureka customers what your plants look like from your nursery. This high-quality color advertisement for your nursery includes professional layout and design. You provide the cultivar photograph and we create your beautiful ad. If you do not have a great photo for your feature cultivar, we'll provide one. You would suggest 6-12 plants from your submitted listings for which you have large stocks and we will look through our photo archive and find the best image for your display ad. You will get to proof the ad and see what it looks like prior to publication. Each digital image that you send and use for your feature cultivar ad enters you in the Eureka Cover Competition. Imagine the sales boost if your feature cultivar photo is chosen for a Eureka cover!
2.
Add more daylily listings
While the "500 Daylilies" ad package is a great deal, you may want to list more than that. You may list up to 3,000 daylilies in the 2012 Eureka Daylily Reference Guide reaching daylily collectors in the U.S. and around the world.
3.
Become a Contributing Photographer
Submit 24 to 48 digital images on a CD, a proof sheet and a photo log with each cultivar name and we may feature your photography or on the covers. As an advertising nursery, you will NOT pay the photo submission fee and, if selected, your photos of daylilies from your garden will get some great, FREE Marketing. Please click on the link, "Imagine Your Photography in the Next Eureka", on the left navigation bar for suggestions and strategies to submitting your photography.

Why should you advertise in Eureka?
1. Eureka is like a Yearbook of Daylily Images taken by talented photographers as they walked through their favorite gardens or new territory in peak bloom. Our goal is that half of the Guide will feature the best color photography of newer and older daylilies. We'll feature stunning color from photographers who, like you, love these plants. Each of the full-color photographs is identified with the registered name, hybridizer and year of registration. The superb color covers, full-color interior pages plus spiral binding makes this both a useful gardening handbook and a beautiful coffee-table book.
2. Eureka is like a Phone Book of Daylily Names with quick registration information on approx. 10,000 daylilies listed by the 2012 nurseries placing their plants in Eureka.

Used worldwide, Eureka Reference Guides have proven our commitment to the highest quality color photography balanced with the most accurate cultivar information. Daylily collectors love to scan the listings looking for what you have available and at what price.
3. Serious daylily collectors have used Eureka each year for 22 years throughout the US and around the world to add to their collection.
As marketing surveys indicate, the MOST impressive factor in advertising success is reputation. Eureka now has a history of highest quality with very loyal readers depending on it year after year for their daylily collections. Now it is time for you to be part of a Eureka Reference Guide. Likewise, your success with Eureka readers increases as they see you in Eureka year after year. Our advertising nurseries experience increased sales each year from their Eureka ad with dramatic sales results often following their third year.
4. Each Eureka reader will get the 2012 Daylily Online Supplement for FREE!
Each person who orders the new Eureka may register AT NO COST for the 2012 Eureka Daylily Online Supplement. We used to provide this popular feature on CDs and charge extra. Now it is entirely free to each person who purchases the new 2012 Eureka. This is another way that the Eureka reader will see your listings, your optional color ad and your nursery ordering information.

Frequently Asked Questions
about Advertising your Nursery in a Eureka Reference Guide

Q. ÒI don't have a computer. How can I send you my listings?Ó
A. Several nurseries who'd rather spend all their time in the garden and haven't yet taken on a computer find a friend who will prepare their list of cultivars or hire someone to place their plant names, sales codes and prices in a simple word processing file. Our instructions (see below or give these instruction to your computer savvy friend) are an easy "1, 2, 3" to someone with very little experience in word processing and emailing.

Q. ÒMay I send in digital photos for my ad layout? They are beautiful.Ó
A. Yes, all images submitted to Eureka must be digital. Make sure that the images are high resolution and that you include a contact sheet for ALL images. While all digital photos look great on our computer screens, they are often too low in resolution to print well on a four-color, high-resolution press. A way to tell if your digital photo would work is just look at the size in terms of disk space. Most of our digital photography goes to press at 8 to 15 megabytes for each photo. Send your digital photos on a CD along with labeled contact sheets and a log of all the photos submitted. Each file must be identified by cultivar name both in the file name, on the proof sheet and the photo log sheet. We do NOT return digital submissions. We do not accept prints from digital images nor images which have been used in previous Eureka Reference Guides. Also, submit all of your images in the .JPG format.

Q. ÒHow can I check to see if my cultivars are spelled correctly so that they will be in the new Eureka Reference Guide?Ó
A. It is critical that your cultivars are submitted to us spelled the exact way that they are registered by the American Hemerocallis Society.
You may now go to the AHS Website and check the official spelling of all registered cultivars at the following link: http://daylilydatabase.org/

Q. ÒI already have a Webpage so why would I want my advertisement and listings to be on the Eureka Gardening Collection Site?Ó
A. The color, design and appeal of this award-winning Site make it a very popular addition to your marketing. Everyone who purchases the 2012 Eureka Daylily Reference Guide will have FREE access to our 2012 Daylily Online Supplement and your Webpage. Plus, you get your plants listed in a DIFFERENT way from the published format in Eureka Reference Guides. In the book, you are one of dozens of growers listing for each plant. On your Eureka Webpage, all of your garden listings appear together. With their Eureka Guide in hand, our loyal readers and perennial collectors will be able to go to your Webpage on the Eureka Site and see ALL your plants listed TOGETHER as in your own nursery catalog. This means that they may more likely add to their order and purchase additional cultivars. Plus, we will link your Eureka Webpage to you private Website.
Remember, you can post your Eureka Webpage address in your emails and other Webpages to take your customers directly to your catalog-style listing of your plants listed in Eureka.

Q. ÒI don't know if I can afford to put my nursery in the Eureka Reference Guide. How can I afford to list my plants with my limited budget?Ó
A. You can take advantage of our EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE "500 Daylilies" Advertising Package option. Compare your advertising dollar spent for a full-color ad with what you would spend and get in any other national/international publication. For nurseries with up to 500 cultivar listings, the cost is only $112.50 to place your listings in the Daylily Guide.
THAT IS ONE HALF THE COST OF THE PREVIOUS ADVERTISING RATE TO PLACE YOUR NURSERY IN THE UPCOMING EUREKA!
With the "Daylily 500" package, we list your plants in this perennial collectors' "Bible", you will be part of the Eureka Website and much more. This is THE most cost effective way for a nursery to TARGET MARKET to the perennial collector year after year. You become a national mail-order presence as part of the Eureka family. Most people share their Eureka with at least 10 other gardeners each season. Plus, you will be reaching NEW collectors around the world. The "500 Daylilies" option is extremely affordable since we subsidize most of the cost for the nursery. If you compare, you will see that the Eureka advertiser gets much more for the advertising cost.

Q. ÒHow do I get a color ad in a Eureka Reference Guide? I don't know anything about computer layout and design.Ó
A. You can easily upgrade your "500 Daylilies" ad package to include an optional color display ad this year featuring your favorite cultivar(s). We will design for you a beautiful, full-color ad displaying your feature cultivar. We'll use your digital photos plus your marketing slogan and garden features you identify on your Nursery Ordering Information Form. Remember, you should feature a cultivar which you have in large supply. Many nurseries send us several photos to choose from. Our editorial policy is for you to show a lot of plant with a large photo and to say very few words. If you request too many words for your half-page display ad, we will edit the number of words or ask you to increase the size of the ad. Our photo policy emphasizes large color photography with a maximum of one photo per half page.

Q. ÒHow do I know which cultivars to list and how to price them?Ó
A. Those are questions that you must determine based on your garden inventory and sales strategy. We suggest that you
list only those plants for which you have a large supply. Some growers feature a few plants as loss leaders to encourage the collector to place an order and then choose other plants to purchase at the same time as they meet your Minimum Order requirements. Of course you can use back volumes of Eureka Reference Guides to help you see and track plant sales and trends each year.

Step #1
Instructions for Preparing and Submitting Your Daylily Listings

You should go to the AHS Website and check the official spelling of all registered cultivars at the following link: http://daylilydatabase.org/. This will help insure that your daylily listings will be accepted by our database.

#1. If you are using a database or spreadsheet program, prepare your cultivar listing with three fields of information: cultivar names, sales codes and prices. Once you've created these three fields of information, save your file and then you may either "Save As" or "Export As" your plant listings as a .CSV comma delimited file that you will then open, select all of the listings and then paste into an email to me (see #3 below). Do not send or attach your database or spreadsheet file itself but rather paste the contents of that file into the email.

#2. Or, you may create a .TXT file in your word processing program with a line for each cultivar including the three fields of information separated (delimited) by commas. Your three fields of data will NOT line up.

#3. In your Internet Email program, address an email to us at the following: bloom@GardenEureka.com. In the ÒsubjectÓ field, type Ò2012 Nursery Listing for (Your Garden five-letter code)Ó. In the body of the email, type your name, garden name and the number of listings to follow. Then place the curser at the end of your email and paste your listings into the email. If you can't see your listings in your email below your identification information, then I won't be able to see them either or use them. Paste your listings into the email and do not attach. When we receive your email listings, we will reply back and alert you to any of your listings which did not load because of spelling problems. You will then be able to correct these rejected cultivars with one resubmission so that they will then load into the Eureka database.
